Volunteer Spotlight

Sue Warman

Sue Warman

Sue Warman began volunteering at Dream Catchers almost four years ago during the spring of 2005.  Since then, she has put in countless hours as a sidewalker, horse-leader, as an office volunteer, helping with fund-raising events, parades, fairs, and other presentations in the community.  She has been a tireless advocate of our programs, and we are extremely grateful to have her as a part of our family!

You can find Sue at our barn three mornings a week – and sometimes more than that, if we have a special event going on or need an extra hand with something.  She is a regular volunteer with our school groups, and with our private students on Friday mornings, and often wears her pedometer and reports that she walks between five and eight miles any given Friday while helping in lessons.  She has attended all of our volunteer clinics for continuing education for our volunteers, and continues to amaze us as she goes above and beyond the normal high expectations we have for our volunteers.

One of Sue’s favorite pastimes in her retirement (other than volunteering at Dream Catchers, of course) is traveling to new and interesting places around the world.  She remembers us fondly during her world excursions by sending the staff and horses postcards to keep us apprised of her adventures.  Her last trip was to a Montana where she saw bison first hand (she claimed that he reminded her of our very own Nobie) and where she acquired a true Native American Dream Catcher to give to us as a gift.  She has also ridden ponies in Scotland, gone up in an air balloon over the Grand Canyon and visited beaches all over the world.  We never like for her to be gone for too long – the students, staff and horses miss her too much!

Sue was awarded the 2007-2008 Volunteer of the Year award, and is also an Advanced Volunteer.  She is a valued member of our team, and we are grateful beyond words for all she has done for our students.
