Volunteer Spotlight

Lilly Patterson

Lilly Patterson

This year’s 2008-2009 Junior Volunteer of the Year Award goes to a special young girl who is trying to make a difference in the world of therapeutic riding. Lily Patterson was welcomed into the Dream Catchers’ family in 2004 when she and her mother, Debbie Patterson, began volunteering with us. Lilly is now fourteen and an essential part of the Dream Catchers’ work force. Over the years Lilly has participated as a camp counselor during the Junior Volunteer camps. Through her time spent at Dream Catchers, Lilly has worked her way through the ranks to become an Advanced Volunteer, meaning she has volunteered over 100 hours at Dream Catchers and has proven her ability to handle any horse and assist with any rider. Not only is Lily reliable in showing up for her lessons on time but she’s also readily on call as a last minute volunteer.

When Lily is not at the barn assisting in lessons or mucking out stalls she can be found tearing it up on the field hockey field. In addition to volunteering at Dream Catchers and showing her own horses, Lily is a member of the Warhill High School field hockey team.

Lily is an exceptional young girl who is a tremendous asset to our program and works well with all our riders and horses at Dream Catchers. Her willingness to do anything asked of her - and with a smile - has greatly blessed students, volunteers, and staff alike.
