Tater's Blog
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Brittney, Meagan, Morgan and Pat help me celebrate with Marco who has been riding with Dream Catchers for one semester. Don’t I make the cutest elf on the planet? We were playing the horsey version of Santa’s game – have you been naughty or nice? An example of my nice answer was …..I shared my hay with Nobie and Lark….An example of my naughty answer was…I rolled in the mud AGAIN!
Clean Pony?!
Thought y’all would love to see this photo! The barn crew thought I needed a bath….I looked squeaky clean for just a little while…..and then I decided to roll in my stall…so much for my being a clean pony!
Tater says…
GOBBLE TILL YA WOBBLE! Have a Happy Thanksgiving from all of your Dream Catchers ponies, horses and barn friends.
Don’t forget no lessons this week. See y’all next week!
WE’RE BACK…!
The ponies and horses are so EXCITED that lessons are back on schedule this week! WE MISSED ALL OF OUR STUDENTS, but we sure enjoyed our ”vacation week.” We kicked up our heels in the pastures, but we are looking forward to working with our students starting Tuesday November 15th. We are very proud of Nancy, Kim, Kat, Dr. Sandy, Dr. Wade & The Research Team for the honor of presenting our Research Study on Autism at the PATH International National Conference in Lexington KY on Friday November 11th!
Dream Catchers’ Research Team Presenting at PATH National Conference!
WOW – Did y’all know that the Dream Catchers Research Team is presenting the results of their most recent research study at this week’s National Conference in Lexington, KY for PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) International? That’s the national organization that used to be known as NARHA. Dream Catchers is one of the first Centers to document the cerebral improvements (not just the physical benefits) of therapeutic riding that have been noticed for years. It is such an honor to be given this opportunity to present the results of our study. Congratulations to Wade Johnson and Nancy Paschall who dreamed of this day when they initiated the research studies in 2007! Our sincere gratitude to Dr. Sandy Ward, Dr. Tom Ward, and Dr. Kelly Whalon with the College of William & Mary and members of the Research Team – without their extraordinary expertise and heroic efforts, this opportunity would never have realized. Special “shout outs” to Kim Wendell, Certified Riding Instructor/School Group Coordinator/Research Team Member and Kat Rusnak, Research Coordinator who have dedicated so much time, talent and passion to support this project. And finally – a big Tater “thank you” to Stephanie McKinney who has enhanced the PowerPoint presentation so that the more than 300 attendees to our presentation will be overwhelmed with the Dream Catchers experiences!
We will soon post information on our web site which summarizes the results of the study and the future direction of our studies!
