I went to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center on Monday….
Don’t worry—your favorite pony isn’t sick. I went to thank Bob Graves, the Administrator for Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, for their sponsorship for Bridles & Bow Ties! Bob Graves’ team at the hospital is so supportive of Dream Catchers—several physicians and staff members are Board Members and volunteers for us. We are so very grateful!
Check out this great photo of Bob and me in front of the hospital!
Tater at The Cheese Shop
Don’t miss this terrific photo of my visit yesterday to the famous Cheese Shop on Duke of Gloucester Street in historic Williamsburg. I am wearing my new bow tie made especially for our upcoming Bridles & Bow Ties event on May 18th.
The Power Family, owners of The Cheese Shop and Fat Canary, has been very generous supporters of Dream Catchers for many years, and we are so very grateful. Mary Ellen Power Rogers has been a dynamic member of the Bridles & Bow Ties event committee for several years, and is an effective ambassador for our mission and our programs. Thank you Mary Ellen!
Fat Canary is once again donating an exclusive dining with wine pairings for the live auction for the May 18th event. Executive Chef Tom Power, Jr. is an amazing chef and this auction package is sure to be very popular!
I wonder if Chef Tom can make a carrot cake for my birthday next March?
Hope y’all enjoyed your spring break!
We’re resting up and getting ready for the start of the Spring Session on Tuesday April 9th! Looking forward to sunny skies and warmer temperatures….this cold rainy weather hasn’t been fun for us ponies. Lark and I found some dry spots around the puddles to take our naps!
Taylor University Students Visit Dream Catchers & Bridles & Bow Ties Fun!
I was a lucky pony this week! Mrs. Joan Gilkison presented me with a $2,000 check for a Bridles & Bow Ties sponsorship. The Gilkison Family purchased me for Dream Catchers in 2008, so it is only fitting that I should accept this very generous sponsorship check from my pony pal Joan. Miss Brittney dressed me up with my Bridles & Bow Ties pink and green tie, so I would look my best for this photo!

Joan also brought over 50 students from Taylor University’s Chorale to Dream Catchers for a tour and to watch a demo ride that Bart and I starred in with Mary & Elijah. The students were very impressed with our demo – check out this photo that we took with the students after our lesson. Wonder if they want me to join these students tomorrow when they are singing Easter services at Williamsburg Baptist Church?
The Catch a Dream Horse Show
WOW – Sunday’s Catch a Dream Horse Show was so much fun – even in spite of the very cold and the rainy weather! Our students looked so awesome in the show ring—and even better when they were wearing their Catch a Dream show ribbons! All the ponies and horses in the barn are very grateful for ALL the teams, who raised money to help take care of us. Congratulations to Mikayla & Seifi – and oh yeah – that silly cat “Otis” for winning the prizes! We think Miss Ashley should be given a tiara and named Pony Princess of the Year for her extraordinary efforts to make the Catch a Dream Campaign successful beyond our wildest dreams. Special thanks to the staff, our super-duper incredibly wonderful volunteers who donate so much of their time and love for us, and to all the parents, grandparents and friends who cheered for our riders and joined the fun at the horse show!
Check out these photos from the show. I think that cute filly “Lark” looked so sweet in the parade of horses….I kept trying to keep that ole’ Indy from flirting with her….he thinks every filly wants to be his pasture pal. Thanks again for supporting this campaign which is sure to be an annual favorite!
