Middleburg Bank Sponsors Virginia Fall Tradition to Benefit Dream Catchers

Dec 01, 2011

On Sunday, October 30, 2011, Dream Catchers, Middleburg Bank and their guests gathered at a historical plantation to celebrate a Virginia fall tradition for a great cause.
Middleburg Bank sponsored the stirrup cup reception for Dream Catchers at the Princess Anne Hunt Opening Meet and Blessing of the Hounds. Sunday’s event kicked off the 85th season of foxhunting for Princess Anne Hunt, which took place at Sherwood Forest Plantation. The Plantation was once the home to our nation’s 10th President, John Tyler, and is currently owned by his grandson and wife, Harrison & Payne Tyler.
More than 40 mounted members of the Princess Anne Hunt participated in the opening meet and stirrup cup, which had been rescheduled from Saturday, October 29 due to inclement weather. Rev. Darcey Johnson from Memorial United Methodist Church of Charles City performed the Blessing of the Hounds, which was followed by the call for the hounds by Joint Master of Fox Hounds Jack Ferguson. Huntsman James Raine sounded the horn and led the hounds off to the first covert.
“We are committed to enriching the communities that we serve. It is our honor to support Dream Catchers, and the hundreds of special needs children and adults that they serve, with this event,” says Mike Maddocks, Senior Vice President and Williamsburg Regional Executive at Middleburg Bank.
