Dear Friends,
Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center has been certified as a premier accredited center by PATH (the national professional organization that sets standards for the therapeutic riding industry.) We are proud of our staff, our volunteers and our Board and Advisory Board who work together to provide extraordinary programs for people with special needs. We are also very proud of our students who provide the inspiration for Dream Catchers! We have recently introduced our Horses for Heroes Program, which is a nationally recognized program of therapeutic riding for military service members/veterans.
The testimonials reflect the wide range of benefits our students receive from our therapeutic riding programs. Today’s challenging economic times present hardships for many of our students. We fund an average of 350 lessons each year with scholarships. To provide these scholarships and to support the operations of our facility and programs, we depend upon the generosity of our many donors. We fundraise approximately 75% of our annual revenues and the balance of our revenue is derived from program fees. Dream Catchers is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that was originally established in 1993.
We are so appreciative of the generosity of our donors!
Sincerely,
Karen Jamison, President, Board of Directors __________________________________________________________________

“The rhythmic motion of horseback riding simulates the human gait and can encourage riders with physical disabilities to improve balance, muscle tone, coordination and flexibility. Therapeutic riding can enhance cognitive and sensorimotor development. In addition, riders gain a greater sense of independence and self-confidence.” ~ James Lesnick, M.D. ~ Riverside Hampton Roads
“Dream Catchers has taught me how to ride. I used to be afraid of heights, now I ride tall horses and it is lots of fun. The Dream Catchers horses are so cool. I don’t know how they know every rider is different but they do. Everyone at Dream Catchers is very nice and they cheer for everyone when we learn new stuff.”

“I am writing this on behalf of my son Terry who started riding therapy in Sept 09 when he couldn’t sit up, couldn’t stand, and wouldn’t verbalize much. Now he can sit up all by himself, he can stand with the help of holding onto furniture and has a vocabulary of more than 30 words. I know the only reason he is doing these things is Dream Catchers. It seems like he does something new after every lesson. We are amazed at the milestones he has reached, but he would not have been able to do this without the help of Dream Catchers.” ~ Michelle Bergeron, parent of student rider Terry.
